Springwater Farm’s Harvest Reflection
With every ending we welcome a new phase in our lives. At the moment we are reflecting on the harvest that comes with the farmer’s moon, ‘The Harvest Moon’ of Friday 29th September. This is a powerful time for any custodians of the land to embrace their gratitude for the successful harvest we have had, anchoring us for the winter months ahead.
It is important as regenerative farmers, if we want to remain connected to the seasons and our ancestors of the land, that we learn from previous generations the importance of following the moon cycles – and learn how this can benefit our business choices and decisions going forward.
However a successful harvest is not our only cause for celebration, we also move farms on 29th September. Myself and Jason have been fortunate enough to take on a farm tenancy on the National Trust Killerton estate. What beautiful timing and what an opportunity!
We are now starting the process of converting 750 acres into organic certification and have also started bringing in our highlands for winter in our new farm buildings before our soil becomes damaged.
So… watch this space for new and exciting opportunities on how you can visit us and get involved with our farm in the coming months.
