Platform 1 is a champagne bar and restaurant, in a stunning location overlooking the river Dart in the beautiful South Hams town of Dartmouth.
The team at Platform 1 have worked tirelessly over the past 18 months to introduce and perfect a fantastic new menu concentrating on locally sourced seafood. Head Chef Hannah Black grew up in Brixham with a trawlerman Dad and her affinity with the sea and seafood is evident in the menu she has created. The judges commented: “The hot seafood platter main course was superb and the choice of sea food in the platter was excellent, for example the use of monkfish as scampi bites was excellent.”

In a bid to save the hospitality industry and help it out of its current crisis, as well as understanding the confusion youngsters can feel when considering their next steps in life, Jamie Rogers of @twenty_seven_x in Kingsbridge wants to offer a lifeline to willing youngsters who may find that the hospitality sector is ideal for them.
Following a rocky start to his own career (he spent time in a young offender’s prison) Jamie soon straightened up following a summer as a pot-washer at The Cricket Inn at Beesands, then as a kitchen porter and general dogsbody, realising that his destiny was to work hard and make a name for himself in the kitchens, ultimately as a chef.
If you are 16 or nearly 16 (or know someone) and you haven’t got a clue what you want to do with your life, Jamie is hosting a Twenty-Seven Workshop, in an effort to entice youngsters into the industry.
Every Saturday, from now until the end of the summer, Jamie’s offering 16 potential chefs and 16 front of house staff a hands-on experience in hospitality at The 27 Hospitality Academy. And will pay for the privilege. It’s literally a win: win situation for all.
If you feel lost and confused about your future or you know a young person who’s looking for a taste of hospitality or some guidance… Please email for more information. Tap the link in our bio to find out more.
