Rebecca and Corin Burton at Bovey Larder zero-waste shop, in Bovey Tracey, are very excited to launch their new Click and Collect, Plastic Free Shopping service and Online Larder. With an introductory 10% discount until July31st, using code ZEROWASTE41 at checkout, plastic free shopping just got a whole lot more convenient.

Rebecca says, “We know that zero waste shopping the ‘refill’ way can take a little more time, thought and preparation. When you add to that parking, shopping with kids, remembering your tubs etc it can all get very challenging, even for those most dedicated to zero waste shopping. So, we decided to add an online larder to our website, so that customers in Bovey Tracey and further afield can shop online and collect in store ‘click and collect’, to make it just that little bit easier.

Our mission, since opening in 2020, has always been to offer affordable, accessible, zero waste shopping for everyday living. Now our customers can browse and shop online in the comfort of their own home whenever they like, then choose a time that suits them to pop in and collect their plastic free shopping, which will be all ready and waiting for them.”

SO HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Online Larder works just like any other online shop, just without the plastic!!

  1. Visit boveylarder.com/the-larder
  2. Use the product categories or the search box to find the product you are looking for
  3. Choose the weight or number of items you’d like to order
  4. When you’ve finished shopping, go to checkout and choose a time slot for collection
  5. Add your details
  6. Tick to subscribe to our news, updates and offers
  7. Add in discount code ZEROWASTE41 for your 10% discount until the end of July
  8. Complete payment
  9. Pop in, to Bovey Larder to collect your goodies, which will be all packaged up in paper bags and waiting for you with a smile!

Bovey Larder sells a large range of vegan, gluten free and organic products alongside other staples for everyday shopping such as cereals, rice, pasta, nuts, herbs and spices, oils, cleaning products, soaps, shampoo.

Corin says, “The beauty of online shopping with a smaller business like ourselves, is that we can be really reactive to our customers’ needs and help them to shop in a more environmentally friendly way too. So, if there is something that customers are struggling to find they can pop a request in the order notes, email or call us and we can add it to their order. We can also respond quickly to any questions about ingredients or product origin too.”

Corin and Rebecca hope that their new click and collect service, will help more people to reduce the amount of plastic in their shopping and help to reduce the plastic pollution that is contributing to the current global warming crisis, polluting our seas and land. With alarming research from Common Seas, based in Totnes, suggesting that 80% of us may have plastic in our blood, which could contribute to health issues, it really is time for a change. Changing our food and household shopping habits, to re-use, refill, recycle and reduce the amount of plastic packaged products we buy, is a huge step that everyone can take to help.

So why are we using more plastic than ever across the globe? Because it is durable, convenient and cheap to produce, but the cost to our environment from this plastic habit is staggeringly high. According to Surfers Against Sewage, current estimates show that at least 8 million pieces of plastic are entering the oceans every single day. Two thirds of this plastic comes straight from land based sources: litter left on the beach, litter washed down rivers and drains, flushed down the loo, industry spills and badly managed landfill sites.

Bovey Larder are helping to turn the tide, helping us to avoid plastic in our weekly shop, re-using, refilling and recycling. If every household in the UK refilled and re-used just one bottle every month, that would save 336 million plastic bottles from being produced ever year.

Rebecca says, “A little really does go a long way. We hope that our little red shop on Fore Street in Bovey Tracey, and our new click and collect service, can make it just that bit easier for shoppers to move towards plastic free, sustainable shopping habits to help reduce pollution and its effects on the planet.” You can try out Bovey Larder’s click and collect service at boveylarder.com/the-larder/ Don’t forget to enter your discount code, ZEROWASTE41, at checkout, valid until the end of July.
