Brand new to Venus, in time for the summer season, is Jude’s Dog ice cream, which is proving very popular with our furry four-legged customers.

With three stunning beach café locations across Devon, we feel blessed to live and work in a spectacular area of the country with access to a fabulous range of local and regional suppliers producing a wonderful array of foods grown and harvested from our rich waters and fields.  The heart of Venus recipes emanates from producing nearly all our own food at our kitchens at Halwell in Totnes, served with a warm welcome by our amazing and loyal team. Environmentally friendly, and proud to live and work in Devon, we make sumptuous homemade dishes for a range of dietary requirements, lovingly prepared and wrapped in sustainable and home-compostable packaging.

In line with our values of only serving high-quality and sustainable food, we are delighted to be working with Okehampton-based Eversfield Organic, which nestles on the edge of Dartmoor offering fresh, Soil Association organic-certified meat from its own grass-fed cattle.  We have teamed up with the local family-owned company to make finger-licking, juicy beef burgers hand-made to Venus’s very own special recipe.  Eversfield inspires healthier living by connecting people to organic food, reducing waste, and offering the highest quality level, matching The Venus Company’s sustainable operations.

With a passion for quality, tasty food, we will only put a dish on our menu that we like, and always use British (often Devon) meats and dairy products.  Where we can’t find a South West producer that matches our ethos and values, we look for one that is closest to home – the criteria is that it has to be a supplier who shows a commitment to environmentally sound practices. With this in mind, we are delighted to work with multi-award-winning plant-based Jude’s ice cream, located in the rolling hills of the South Downs. Making their ice cream, they use the traditional batch method, carefully selecting the best ingredients, and blending them with fresh milk and cream. This environmentally friendly and progressive independent family-run business has ‘scooped’ more than 70 ‘Great Taste Awards’ for its delicious smooth and creamy ice cream.

A certified B Corp, Jude’s believes in ‘business as a force for good’, creating both super indulgent and healthier products whilst taking responsibility to help protect their natural environment, reducing its carbon intensity by 21% since 2020, with a target to gain a 43% reduction by 2030. This fits perfectly with Venus’ mission to be the ‘greenest café operator’.

Brand new to Venus, in time for the summer season, is the introduction of Jude’s Dog ice cream, which is proving very popular with our furry four-legged customers.  The plant-based soft ice cream is made with real fruit purées of strawberry, apple, and banana; bursting with health benefits and has no nasties, so completely safe for dogs.  And the great news is that 5% of every sale of the ice cream goes to Battersea dogs and cats home so everyone’s a winner!
