Devon Farm Kitchen has much to celebrate having won three prestigious gold awards from Taste of the West! Two awards were won for its delicious meals – namely roast turkey with all the trimmings, and lemon curd sponge – and the third gold was awarded in the online retailer category. These awards are a huge accolade for the new social enterprise that was launched just over a year ago to deliver tasty frozen meals to people in their own homes across South Devon, with all profits going to support the work of Rowcroft Hospice in caring for patients living with life-limiting illnesses.

“These Taste of the West awards recognise the very best food and drink producers across the South West, so we’re absolutely thrilled to have won three golds!” said Devon Farm Kitchen Manager Joe Bradshaw. “We had entered our roast turkey and lemon sponge out of interest to see what the judges would think, and we’re now considering entering more dishes! The judges described our website, communication, delivery and the overall quality of our meals as ‘excellent’. After just a year of trading this is a fantastic achievement for the team here at Devon Farm Kitchen, and this will really help to further our success in raising vital funds for Rowcroft Hospice.”

Since it was established a year ago, Devon Farm Kitchen has gone from strength to strength and now delivers across a huge area stretching from Tavistock in the west to Teignmouth and Exminster in the east, Salcombe in the south and Okehampton in the north and including the whole of Dartmoor.

The meals are handmade in small batches by Devon Farm Kitchen’s own chefs in their Torquay kitchen using the finest produce sourced directly from Devon’s farmers, fishing communities and other local producers. The menu boasts a mouth-watering selection of tasty soups, starters, mains. Devon Farm Kitchen’s motto is: local produce for local people while supporting local care.

Their environmental credentials are also impressive. Meals are delivered on ceramic plates and bowls which are washed, returned on the next delivery and re-used over and over. The outer cardboard packaging is 100% carbon neutral, fully compostable and 100% recyclable.
