The Food Magazine Reader awards are one of the most highly acclaimed food awards in the South West, launched a decade ago by Salt Media to celebrate the very best restaurants, pubs, hotels, food producers, retailers and cookery school across the region, from Bristol to Penzance.

The awards are an opportunity for Food Magazine readers to highlight the venues and products that they love and with tens of thousands of votes cast over 13 categories this year, it’s clear people are as keen as ever to support and celebrate the hospitality and food business of the South West region.

The finalists gathered for a glittering evening of celebration and good food at Nancarrow Farm in Cornwall on 15 May, and the award which was sponsored by Rodda’s was collected by cookery school founder and CEO, Stella West-Harling M.B.E who started teaching cookery courses in Ashburton in 1992.

“I’m absolutely thrilled for our team that the cookery school has been recognised as the best cookery school in the region. It’s a great reflection of all of the hard work we put into delivering cookery courses that combine hands-on, inspirational teaching with using the best seasonal produce we can find from our local area,” said Stella.

Other finalists for the Best Cookery School award included Rick Stein’s Cookery School in Cornwall, Devon’s Glebe House and High Grange from Axminster.
