Salcombe Brewery Co. is launching Maya, a dark, warming Chocolate Stout inspired by the ancient Maya people, for whom the cacao bean was sacred.

It is a dark, warming beer ideal for these colder autumn nights. It pairs well with braised or spiced meats and rich autumnal stews, but is equally enjoyable on its own.

MAYA is a Chocolate Stout, created by adding cacao nibs during the brewing process. The caramel and coffee notes from the malt blend perfectly with the rich chocolate flavour from the cacao nibs, resulting in a smooth chocolate stout.

Head Brewer, Sam Beaman, comments:

“We are very excited about this latest addition to our small batch range. For the ancient Maya people, the cacao bean was sacred. They were obsessed with its rich, chocolate taste and believed it was a gift from the gods. This was our inspiration for our new stout which we have infused with organic cacao nibs to add depth and complexity.”

Maya (4.5% ABV) will be available on tap in pubs from the end of October. It will also be available in cans from early November in retail outlets, including the brewery shop, and online for nationwide delivery with Salcombe Brewery’s range of beers from www.salcombebrewery.com.

You can Follow Salcombe Brewery Co. on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Maya will also be available to the trade in 9g casks. For full details of trade prices, please contact the brewery.
