Food Drink Devon?

Food Drink Devon is a Community Interest Company (CIC), membership organisation made up of Hospitality, Retail, food and drink Producers and Support businesses from the county. With a focus on quality, sustainability and provenance, our aim is to support and promote our members and raise Devon’s culinary profile as a whole.

Members benefits

Businesses that are either food and drink producers, retailers, hospitality or venues.

  • Shows: We have a presence at several events throughout the year, from The Source Trade Show, Toby’s Garden Festival, Devon County Show, and Dartmouth Food Festival to the Exeter Christmas Market. Brands can attend these in collaboration with FDD.  We also have supporting engagement through our Green Heart trails and social media coverage when team members visit events throughout the year.
  • A Voice for Devon — an annual trip to Parliament: A selection of the membership can showcase the ‘Best of Devon.’ Full members can send questions to participate in a round table discussion with MPs and Ministers.
  • PR opportunities: Access to seasonal press releases, presence at events in London, communications with the country’s leading journalists, and additional media opportunities (radio, television and print) throughout the year.
  • Business to business e-marketing: the opportunity for coverage in our monthly member’s newsletters
  • Awards: Discounted entry into the Food Drink Devon Awards with free constructive feedback from the judging panel.

  • E-Marketing to Consumers: Inclusion in our monthly newsletter, sent to over 21,000 foodie consumers, has an open rate of 29%, which is higher than the industry average of 19%. If you send us your news and events, we will share them whenever possible.
  • Networking opportunities: Connecting with potential suppliers and customers, encouraging collaborations, and much more. We hold five a year in the different regions across Devon to help you connect with the wider Devon businesses. We usually have attendees of up to 100.
  • Food & Drink Forum Events: New Curated Informative events, with guest speakers and panel discussions to help inform and engage our members on valuable topics.
  • Coffee Mornings: New Informal meet-ups for members only throughout Devon, with a supporter member surgery corner to answer questions in their specialism. These are smaller than then networking evenings with attendees of up to 45 members.
  • Giveaways: Members who have run a competition have been able to grow their database with opt-in. Our most popular has seen 6,000 applicants, of which 4,000 opted in and 800 bought after this.
  • Feature Opportunities: Chef of the Month and Spotlight Sustainability features to promote your business, appearing in the newsletter, on the website and across Social Media.
  • Website Profile: A unique business profile searchable on our website map with links to your website/social pages. Over 80,000 unique visits per year on our website.
  • Website Members Portal: Access to a password-protected portal with industry news, events, trends, and resources.
  • B2B E-Marketing Inclusion in our monthly members e-letter: Get in front of our 350+ members, share industry news, and read the latest.
  • Community: Private Members-Only Facebook and Instagram Groups — created for you to engage with other FDD (Food Drink Devon) members, ask questions and share news.
  • Logo: Use the Food Drink Devon green heart logo, representing quality, sustainability, and provenance. Include Green Heart and Stand to take to events or have up in your establishment.
  • Supporter Member Offers: Access to offers on professional services from Food Drink Devon Supporter Members, including design, marketing, PR, photography, insurance, accountancy, and more.
  • Sponsorship: This is an opportunity to align your brand with FDD by sponsoring our Food Drink Devon Awards. 444 people attended the prestigious ceremony at Sandy Park for the 2023 awards. This is a chance to get exposure for your brand across the Food and Drink industry in Devon. If you want to see the packages available, please just ask.
  • Refer a Business and Save Money: A chance to save on next year’s fees. We understand our members are the best advocates for Food Drink Devon. To reward your passion, we will give members 10% off their membership fees for every new member they introduce to us (up to a maximum of 50% off). The discount will apply to your following membership fees, and the referral must be highlighted upon sign-up.
  • Discounts: Membership discounts include no admin fee when joining Too Good to Go, the app that helps you reduce food and drink waste, and a reduction in membership fee with the Devon Chamber of Commerce.
  • Workshops: Covering valuable topics to help support the growth of your business and are free for members.
  • Monthly Payment Option: Listening to Member feedback, we have introduced the option to pay your annual membership in monthly instalments.

Food Drink Devon is proud to have a comprehensive team of Supporter Members. They provide a wide range of services, from insurance to photography, design to food styling, e-commerce to commercial kitchens, and more. If you can offer something unique to our membership, please apply to become a Supporter member.

  • Business-to-business e-marketing: Monthly member newsletters, where you can outline your services, events, and offers to our members.
  • Social Media: your news can be promoted to over 42,000 followers on Social Media. There are also a closed member’s Facebook and Instagram pages where we encourage members to network. Along with LinkedIn, we can share your news if you tag us.
  • Networking opportunities: Connecting with potential suppliers and customers, encouraging collaborations, and much more. We hold five a year in the different regions across Devon to help you connect with the wider Devon businesses. We usually have attendees of up to 100. For a small fee, non-members are welcome to attend.
  • Coffee Mornings: Informal meet-ups for members and supporter members only throughout Devon, with a supporter member surgery corner to answer questions in their specialism. These are smaller than then networking evenings with attendees of up to 45 members.
  • Training: We also offer the opportunity to present in our programme of workshops, both virtual and in person, throughout the year. We encourage members to create branded crib sheets that can signpost more information hints, and tips for the member's resource area.
  • Sponsorship: The opportunity to sponsor our annual awards and present prizes to the winners at the ceremony. You can get your brand in front of the best in the Food & Drink Industry. The 2023 Awards saw 444 people attend, so a chance for great exposure.
  • Logo: The Food Drink Devon green heart logo represents Quality, Sustainability, and Provenance; you can use this on any marketing material.

How do I apply to be a Member?

To join Food Drink Devon your business must first meet our membership criteria.

  • Work in the food and drink community in Devon;
  • Have employees based within the geographical county of Devon; and
  • Be able to demonstrate Quality, Sustainability and Provenance.

If you meet our criteria, the first step is to complete and submit an application form, you can find the link to the form below.

This application is then submitted to the board. 

Our Membership manager will let you know if you have been sucessful within 10 days of applying.

How do I apply to be a Supporter Member?

To join Food Drink Devon your business must first meet our Supporter membership criteria.

  • Provides support or ancillary services to Members

  • Work with the food and drink community in Devon;

  • Have employees based within the geographical county of Devon; and
  • Be able to demonstrate Quality, Sustainability and Provenance.
  • The Supporter Member must provide a discernible benefit to the other Members of Food Drink Devon, this offer can change through out the year.

Terms and Conditons
Membership lasts for 12 months from the date of joining and will be automatically renewed on the date of joining ('Renewal Date') for successive 12 month periods, with the full amount payable, until cancelled by either party by giving written notice to the other not less than 1 month before the Renewal Date.
