With Spring in the air and social restrictions easing, celebrate being reunited with friends and family by cracking open a bottle of new fruity and fresh Sharpham Summer Sparkling Wine. Produced by Sandridge Barton in their brand-new state-of-art winery in South Devon, this delicious limited edition sparkling rosé is the ideal choice for long summer days in the garden or at a picnic. Available to purchase from www.sharpham.com(RRP £19.00)

Made from a blend of estate grown Dornfelder and Pinot Noir red grapes from the 2011 and 2012 vintages, Sharpham Summer Sparkling is a lost batch that was rediscovered whilst moving to their new winery at Sandridge Barton in 2020.

Soft and spritzy with fruit salad, peach yogurt and strawberry characteristics, this delicious sparkling wine is the epitome of summer. Perfectly paired with a platter of charcuterie, fresh prawns and salmon or a goat’s cheese tart.

Using the traditional method, Sharpham Summer Sparkling is produced from whole berries which are pressed at a tonne at a time, followed by racking to ferment at 14.5 degrees centigrade until dry. The wine is then matured over the winter before being blended in preparation for bottling.

Previously located on the Sharpham Estate for over 40 years, Sharpham Wine recently moved to the new winery next to Sandridge Barton’s large vineyard on the edge of the River Dart. Classic English white, red, rosé and sparkling wines are produced at this beautiful location in South Devon as a result of a happy marriage of soil, climate and grape variety known as terroir.

Sharpham Wine’s popular visitor centre will continue to operate at its present location on the Sharpham Estate for tours and tastings. The on-site café, The Cellar Door, will open from 12th April for table service and takeaways. From 29th March the shop will be open Monday to Sunday, 7 days per week.

Sharpham Wine won several medals at the Wine GB Awards 2020 including prestigious Golds for its Pinot Noir and its 2019 Bacchus Stop-Ferment.
