Get Involved with Devon in a Box

Working in a customer-facing role in the holiday industry for a number of years, led Amanda to come up with an idea for a new business. It actually brings together two already popular things that we know everyone loves –  a great welcome hamper on arrival at a holiday destination and discounts and deals for days out and shops.

“People are often asking me for recommendations of places to go and hidden gems, so I was wondering how all the smaller businesses can get the word out to visitors when often they have only small marketing budgets. Grabbing people’s attention when they first arrive on holiday seemed like the best opportunity and how better to do that than with a box of delicious Devon treats.”

Devon in a Box was established in April 2022. The business offers accommodation owners a choice of welcome hampers and with each one is a complimentary Devon Discount Card (RRP £5).

There are already over 70 Devon businesses offering discounts on everything from paddle boarding, meals out and shops, to the discounted entrance to attractions and cookery classes. What’s more, there are also online bargains to be had so that people can even go home and order a gin hamper, a celebration cake or book a deal for their next visit.

Devon in a Box only stocks exclusively Devon products (all ambient at this stage) and is delighted to be working with a range of Food Drink Devon members such as The Bay Tree, Just Like Mumma’s, Burts Snacks and The Devon Fudge Company. A number of members have also joined the Discount card and Devon in a Box would love to see more on there.

As the business grows there are plans to offer a range of gift hampers by post and also look to get an alcohol licence.
