Boat crew from Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat officially opened Flapjackery’s new shop in Sidmouth earlier in November, its ninth shop.

Located on Fore Street, the new store offers sweet treats including its signature chunks of flapjacks, chocolate clusters, fudge, chocolate bars, honeycomb, chocolate beans, and Turkish delight.

Alice Dutton, trainee boat crew, said:

“It’s lovely to have the support of Flapjackery, and we’re very grateful to be the shop’s nominated charity. Businesses and the local community in Sidmouth are so supportive of the lifeboat, which is an independent charity. And we love to support local businesses too, and we all love a sweet treat!”

Managing the shop is Penny Swindle who said:

“We’re thrilled to be open, and it’s been amazing. I’ve run a few businesses in Sidmouth, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people waiting for a shop to open. People were queuing outside, which was lovely to see, and our first customers had driven over from Dawlish!”

The renowned confectionery brand is celebrated for its gluten-free flapjacks and an assortment of sweet treats, was established by Sally Jenkin and Carol Myott, and emerged from their shared passion for home baking.

What began as a humble endeavour selling cakes at a local farmers market in Tavistock soon gained recognition for their indulgent flapjacks, available in an array of flavors and adorned with various toppings.

As part of their commitment to giving back to the community, Flapjackery Sidmouth has chosen Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat as its nominated charity. For every customer who opts not to use a paper bag or box for their flapjacks, the company will donate 20p to the charity. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from their special charity flapjacks will also go to the charity.

Despite the widespread acclaim and popularity of Flapjackery flapjacks, each one is meticulously handcrafted at its Tavistock headquarters, where a dedicated team of bakers expertly craft and decorate these delicious treats.

Flapjackery Sidmouth is located at 14 Fore Street. For more information about Flapjackery, please visit their website at www.flapjackery.co.uk.
