What have you done to make your business more sustainable?

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Denhay. We have introduced a range of initiatives to reduce our impact, including recyclable packaging, solar panels and using a borehole for our water supply. We have pledged to be net zero by 2050 and reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 - a target we have already exceeded, achieving over a 70% reduction since 2021.

We are proud to be ISO 14001 certified and continually track our environmental performance through clear targets and carbon footprint analysis.

Our Royal Warrant reflects the high standards we hold ourselves to, including our commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices. We continue to go above and beyond to protect the environment while producing the quality bacon our customers love.

What would you like to change in the future to improve your sustainability credentials further?

We’re always looking for ways to improve our sustainability credentials and reduce our environmental impact further. In the future, we aim to continue lowering our carbon emissions, increasing the use of renewable energy, and exploring new ways to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency across our business.

We are also continually reviewing our packaging as new, more sustainable materials and technologies develop, ensuring we can make further progress while maintaining the quality, safety and shelf life of our products.

What are your tips for other businesses that want to become more sustainable?

Our advice to other businesses looking to become more sustainable is to start by understanding where your biggest impacts are and setting clear, measurable targets for improvement. Small changes can make a big difference, but long-term progress comes from making sustainability part of everyday decision-making.

Track your performance, involve your team, and continually look for opportunities to improve - whether that’s reducing energy use, minimising waste, reviewing packaging or working more responsibly with suppliers.

Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and the most important step is to start making positive changes and build from there.
