Retail Spotlight | Shaldon Village Store
Shaldon Village Store is more than just a shop; it is a hub of connection, service, and continuity for the coastal village of Shaldon, near Teignmouth.
The store has stood at the centre of village life for over two centuries, evolving with the needs of its community.
Once a private residence, it later became The Commercial Inn, before serving as a butcher's shop under the Orsman family. Since 1948, it has continued its story as the village convenience store.
In a fitting twist of history, the property, purchased by the current owners in 2000, was once owned by their grandfather, adding a deeply personal connection to its legacy.
Today, the store has been fully refitted to meet modern needs, offering a full range of chilled, frozen, fresh fruit and vegetables and general groceries. During Covid, it played a vital role in supporting the community, providing reliable access to essential supplies and a carefully curated range of West Country produce, all supported by a free delivery service which continues today.
The owners would like to extend heartfelt thanks to their dedicated team, loyal local customers, and the many holidaymakers and visitors who return year after year.
