Clive’s ‘Twinnies’ launch into Asda frozen. New plant-based twin packs from Clive’s Purely Plants in 100% plastic free sustainable packaging.

Clive’s Pies, one of the pioneering British award winning brands in the plant-based category, based in Dartmouth,  have launched two new products into the Asda freezer.

• Chestnut Mushroom Pies with creamy tarragon sauce (2 x 175g) RRP £3.95

• Saag Curry Pies with spicy potato and coconut (2 x 175g) RRP £3.95

Both products are vegan and the packaging is plastic free.

Motivated by the desire to manage weekly food expenses as well as reduce waste, more shoppers are recognising the cost-effectiveness of exploring the freezer aisle. Clive’s has wisely aligned itself with this trend in a timely launch into Asda’s frozen pie category.

Major retailers are taking note of this shift and are expanding their freezer sections to accommodate shoppers’ demand for enticing meal options and plant-based alternatives, especially for meat-free days. Currently, frozen food is outperforming fresh produce in supermarkets, as indicated by Kantar * data, which reports a 2.6% increase in volumes of frozen prepared foods, including ready meals, pizzas, and chips.

The Chestnut Mushroom Pies are a classic creamy mushroom filling in the new sharing twin pack format. The shortcrust pastry is filled with Clive’s signature blend of chestnut and porcini mushrooms in a delicious creamy herb sauce. The Saag Curry Pies are everyone’s favourite veg curry now in a new sharing twin pack. The same perfect blend of shortcrust pastry and mildly spiced veg make this curry house favourite pure pie perfection!

Clive’s Pies have been at the forefront of plant-based innovation for more than 30 years and are the innovation leaders in the UK for plant-based pies and quiches.

Heading up the innovation team since April 2022 is Craig Blackborough, NPD Manager at Clive’s Pies. He comments about the new products:

“We wanted to create something that would be a great family meal centre, straight from your freezer, without compromising on quality, perfect for 2 people, no matter how big or small!”

Esther Pearson, MD of Clive’s Purely Plants adds:

“With shifting shopper attitudes to frozen food and plant-based food, it’s not just about the frozen peas and vegan sausages in the freezer anymore! People want more and we hope our delicious new ‘twinnies’ will create as much excitement in the freezer as they do in the chiller.”
