The folk over at The Gift of Cake have some inspired top tips on gift buying for your Valentine…

Valentine’s Cake Gifts

While flowers are a traditional gift, consider switching things up this year by gifting a cake instead.

Not only are cakes a sweet treat, but they also serve as a symbol of celebration and sharing. A cake is a perfect way to show your loved one that you want to share a special moment with them.

Check out our cake for Valentines day offer or you may like to send a different cake instead?

Of course you could send them a cake (wouldn’t we all love a cake on 14th February!) but the Gift of Cake folk have some other recommendations for you too…

Treat Your Loved One

Valentine’s Day is a special day for lovers all over the world, and it’s a day when people express their love and affection for one another through gifts.

Whether it’s a small token of appreciation or a grand gesture of love, gifts are an important part of Valentine’s Day.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for your significant other, here are some ideas to help you out.

Valentine’s Flowers

One of the most classic gifts for Valentine’s Day is flowers. Flowers have long been associated with love and romance, and they make a beautiful and thoughtful gift.

The traditional choice would be a bouquet of red roses. If your significant other has a different favourite flower, choose a bouquet that features that flower.

If you’re local to us and looking for a florist to put together a beautiful bouquet for you, we highly recommend Albany Florists in Newton Abbot.

Valentine’s Gifts That Sparkle

Jewellery is a timeless and elegant gift for Valentine’s Day that can be worn for years to come.

If you’re looking for something special, a piece of diamond jewellery is a great choice. Diamonds are a symbol of love and eternal devotion, and they make a stunning and romantic gift.

If you’re on a budget, you can also choose a piece of costume jewellery that’s just as beautiful but less expensive.

We highly recommend Doble Jewellers, who have shops in Exeter, Torquay, Totnes and Brixham. They have the most beautiful range of fine and antique jewellery.

Foodie Gifts For Valentine’s Day

If your significant other is a food lover, you can treat them to a romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Michelin starred restaurant The Elephant in Torquay is one of the Gift of Cake’s favourites and we make sure we take a trip there at least once a year. They cook mouth-watering dishes with seasonal, local Devon produce.

Make sure to make reservations in advance to ensure that you get a table at the perfect time.

You can also prepare a romantic dinner at home, complete with candlelight and soft music. This can be a great way to spend a quiet evening together and enjoy each other’s company.

Romantic Valentine’s Getaways

If you’re looking for a gift that’s both fun and romantic, you can give your significant other a trip or a holiday.

Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a longer trip, this is a great way to spend some quality time together and create new memories.

We spent a long weekend in a luxury treehouse at The Yurt Retreat in Somerset last year. It was absolute heaven and a weekend I’ll remember forever!

We also love to get away for the night to The Boringdon Hall Hotel in Plymouth for a massage and a bit of R&R.

Valentine’s Gifts On A Budget

Valentine’s Day can be a stressful time, especially when it comes to finding the perfect gift that doesn’t break the bank.

The good news is you don’t have to spend a lot of money to show your love and appreciation. A simple, yet heartfelt gesture, can be just as meaningful as an expensive gift.

Take the time to sit down and write a heartfelt message expressing your feelings for your partner. It can be a love letter, a poem, or even a list of reasons why you love them. Plus, it’s a gift that they can keep and treasure forever.

Valentine’s Gift For Husband (or wife!)

For Valentine’s Day last year I went down the romantic route!

I made a little heart shaped box from cardboard and popped little love notes in telling my husband all the things I love about him.

I prepared some chocolate dipped strawberries, chilled a bottle of prosecco and we went on a bike ride. It was simple, friendly on the pocket, romantic, and very special.

So, this Valentine’s Day, you could put your heart on paper and give the gift of love without spending a lot of money.

Custom-Made Art

For a more unique and personal gift, you can create a custom-made piece of art. Choose a painting, sculpture, or photograph that you know your significant other will love.

Custom-made art is a special and meaningful gift that will be treasured for years to come.

We love the work from North Devon artist Clare Willcocks, who produces beautiful personal illustration commissions. Our bathroom at home features one piece from her impressive ‘Wave’ collection.

Additionally, be sure to check out the work of local woodcarver, William Barsley. He creates custom pieces from his studio in Dartington in Devon and is a highly skilled craftsman.

I’m also a big fan of Teignmouth based artist Laura Wall.

Practical Valentine’s Gifts

For a more practical gift, you can give your significant other a new appliance or gadget.

If they’ve been wanting a new phone, tablet, or laptop, this can be a great way to show them how much you care.

You can also gift them a new kitchen appliance or gadget that they can use to make cooking and baking easier.

Air fryers are currently very popular and could be a good choice for the foodie lover in your life.
