Lucho Bakes

Luciano was originally born in Argentina on the 18th of february of 1979, he worked in many different places and studied to be a pc hardware technician. He got his spanish nationality and moved to Spain in 2008 where he studied networking. He lost his interest in computing and networking and moved on to practice martial arts, where he started to teach others for a while. Later on he studied massage and started to train as an osteopath, but life situations forced him to drop from osteopathy and moved to Orgiva, in Las Alpujarras, to work in a workaway experience.
His host in Orgiva was from York, and offered him to move to England for a while to decorate a flat and a house. Luciano moved to England in 2014 and after finishing his contract as a decorator he decided he wanted to stay. He was going through a breakup and had little money to keep him moving. A friend told him the NHS was looking for health care assistants, so he decided to give it a try and became an HCA for 6 years.
He lived in Hertfordshire, Kent, Essex and many different places of North Devon, including the beautiful Exmoor.
He always liked cooking, especially italian and loved making pizza dough.
His other passion is Bodyboarding, and after almost 20 years out of the sport he started again when he moved to North Devon , where he loved chasing storms.
Long term anxiety disorder sufferer, in 2020 Covid crisis kicked in and played his mind. By the beginning of 2021 he couldn't hold it anymore and went off sick for anxiety and depression, and also a very bad back.
He started to meditate regularly and one day he realized he couldn´t work as an HCA anymore, it was hurting him and his back.
Sat on a sofa playing games and hurting even more, one day he decided to try making Sourdough bread again. He tried a few years back, his previous landlord gave him some starter. He didn't have the time then, so he froze the starter for a few years. The man who gave him the starter was a German guy, very well known around, called Dieter. He unexpectedly passed away in 2021 so Luciano called his starter “Dieter” to honour him.
Luciano fell in love with bread making. The simplicity yet very complex nature of Sourdough bread kept him challenged, a thing he needs to keep moving forward. He gave bread to his neighbours and they asked for more. One neighbour lent him a Sourdough book and another one said she wanted to pay to get two loaves and some crackers every week.
He started to invest money on more books and equipment and made his kitchen a little bakery. Spending hours and hours reading, and researching and watching videos he improved his technique and keeps doing so.
