The Black River Inn

A comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, eclectic mix of old and new features in respect of the decor and a wide offering of food options and drinks await at this recently refurbished village pub.

Chef/owner Alex Pallatt has designed a tapas/style menu (along with some hearty pub classics) that is cooked on our open fire hearth that showcases the best of what we can get right here in Devon. Seasonal, great dishes that speak for themselves, with just a little help from the chef.

Sunday lunch as with all our meals are freshly prepared in house and cooked on our open fire. Be it out popular 3 meat Sunday lunch offering, or our vegan or vegetarian alternatives. All served with up to 5 seasonal vegetables sourced locally, and cooked on the day.

A large beer garden out the back offers a lovely suntrap drinking area or somewhere to soak up rays while enjoying a pot of freshly prepared food.

This pub does have a welcome to all policy; with no dress code, wellis, furry friends and families are all received warmly.

The menus change constantly with the seasons, offering regular diners wider variety on each occasion, and watch out for evening specials; available to diners when the kitchen can get their hands on particularly good food items, and create new and exciting dishes as well as their a la carte offerings.
