Dartmouth based vegan bakery, Clive’s Purely Plants, were thrilled to be invited to be a part of Channel 4’s hugely popular Food Unwrapped series.
The episode was dedicated to the vegan supermarket aisle and Clive’s were challenged by the presenter, Briony May Williams, to demonstrate how to make a vegan quiche without using eggs.
Briony was given a tour of the bakery by MD Esther Pearson who talked through the process from start to finished product. The egg replacement is made using okara which is a by-product from making tofu so is a very sustainable.
“We are always grateful for the opportunity to spread the message around delicious and sustainable plant-based alternatives” commented Esther.
At the final product tasting, Briony agreed that the Red Pepper & Harissa Quiche was totally delicious and that Clive’s veg packed creation proved that you don’t need eggs to achieve the perfect quiche texture and flavour.
