Sandridge Barton, the home of Sharpham Wine, offers somewhere new for wine lovers to explore and enjoy this festive season.

From casual self-guided tastings, for those who want to taste their range of wine at their own leisure, to in-depth guided tastings and tours, for those wishing to learn more about the processes used in its vineyard and state-of-the-art winery. There’s something for everyone.

Officially opened in June 2022, Sandridge Barton’s new home, located on the east bank of the River Dart, is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts. This Christmas, treat a loved one to a Guided Tasting Gift Voucher (£20 per person) and give them an excuse to spend an afternoon relaxing and tasting some of the best English wines in the glorious South Devon countryside. Monetary gift vouchers (£10 – £100) are also available and can be redeemed on-site, in the winery shop, or online.

If you’re looking to send something by post, Sandridge Barton’s wine and wine-related gifts are the perfect way to tantalise taste buds over the festive period. The Wine Lover’s Gift Box (£85.00) is an ideal gift for a wine lover who wants to explore some of their best wines. The wooden gift box includes a bottle each of Sparkling Pink 2014, New Release 2022 and Pinot Noir 2021, plus a branded corkscrew. The Sandridge Barton Showcase Hamper (£150.00) features a bottle each of Blanc de Blancs 2013, Estate Selection 2021 and Pinot Noir 2021 along with some delicious local Devon delights, all packaged in a classic wicker hamper.

If you’re treating yourself, combine a tasting experience with lunch in the restaurant, Circa at Sandridge Barton, which has recently expanded its offering. Open for lunch five days a week from Thursday to Monday, 10am-4pm, and on Friday evenings, from 6pm-9pm, when guests can choose between a three-course set menu priced at £35 or a tasting menu for £45, with an optional wine flight for £25. On Sundays, roasts are priced at £25 for two courses and showcase native, South Devon beef from the estate.

Wines to enjoy at home this Christmas

Don’t forget to visit Sandridge Barton’s on-site winery shop (or online shop) before Christmas to stock up on white, rosé, red and sparkling wines.

A bottle of Sharpham Pinot Noir 2021, 12% ABV, £22.00

Sharpham Pinot Noir 2021 has quickly become one of Sandridge Barton’s best-sellers. Expect bright aromas of wild strawberry, dark cherry and cranberry with a hint of baking spice. A rounded and delicate palate with a redcurrant acidity, fine tannins and spice on the finish. This wine is drinking well in its youth but those with patience will reap the rewards in a few years’ time.

Production is limited due to the challenges that come with growing red grapes in a cool climate so it’s only available, while stocks last, from sandridgebarton.com or in the on-site winery shop. The Sharpham Six, 1 case of 6 x bottles, £115.00

Sandridge Barton’s mixed half case of Sharpham Wines features six bottles of their current bestsellers including one bottle each of Sparkling Pink 2015, New Release 2022, Estate Selection 2021, Dart Valley Reserve 2021, Pinot Noir Rosé 2021 and Pinot Noir 2021. Wines are subject to change. Sandridge Barton Sparkling Selection, 1 case of 6 x bottles, £172.00

English sparkling wine is gaining international recognition and pulling in international awards on a regular basis thanks to England’s unique climate and traditional method of winemaking. This fine Sparkling Selection of Sandridge Barton’s sparkling wines includes two bottles each of ‘Figgy Daniel’ Col Fondo 2021 and Sparkling Pink 2015, plus a bottle each of Sparkling Reserve 2015 and Blanc de Blancs 2013. Free delivery is available on orders over £50.
