In the thick of winter prep for the new growing season, and just as the first sown chilli seeds germinate and pop their heads above the soil – we found out that two of our delicious chilli products had won prestigious awards.

As part of the Clifton Chilli Club’s National Chilli Awards, we entered our Hot Habanero Chilli Ketchup and Orange 60% Dark Chilli Chocolate into the Chilli Ketchup & Confectionery categories.

The Clifton Chilli Club is recognized amongst chilli-heads and the trade as ambassadors of all things chilli and the annual awards are a great indicator of what’s new and exciting in the world of chilli produce.

In the Chilli Ketchup category our Hot Habanero Chilli Ketchup won Gold and Best in Category.

The judges commented: “A vibrant, red appearance with an unusual yet appealing spice on the nose. Lovely velvety texture and consistency, representative of a classic ketchup with a good gloss. Great fruitiness and balanced sweetness. Habanero heat isn’t overpowering and allows the ketchup to be used liberally. A super example of a chilli ketchup that delivers in all areas.”

Amongst the entries for Chilli Confectionery, our Orange Chilli Dark Chocolate also won Gold and Best in Category.

“Intense and orangey aroma and this follows through on to the pallet beautifully. Silky, smooth, well-tempered, dark chocolate carry light berry notes and a good intensity.” the judges commented.

This chocolate award winner, alongside our other eight flavours of chilli chocolate, are available as the perfect Mothers’ Day gift this year with our new Chilli Bear.
