Blue Goose Coffee’s Compostable Coffee Pod Advent Calendar won a World Coffee Innovation Award at London’s Caffe Culture show this week.

The Advent Calendar won the Coffee Capsule Innovation Award, was runner up in the Ethical Initiative category and was recognised as trailblazing and an outstanding contribution to the global coffee scene.

It’s the calendar’s third major award, having already secured accolades in the Free-From Christmas Awards and the Soil Association’s Best New Organic Food & Drink Product Award in their annual BOOM Awards, following a rigorous judging process by a professional panel including the Daily Telegraph’s Xanthe Clay and TV cookery star Romy Gill.

Selfridges are also stocking the calendar for the second year in a row, having sold out within just a week and a half in 2022.

Featuring 24 compostable Nespresso coffee pods full of ethically-sourced, organic coffees from seven origins, the coffee pod advent calendar is entirely plastic-free. Each coffee has its own compelling people and environmental story and includes the world’s first Sail Ship Coffee in a pod, the world’s first Bird-Friendly® Coffee Pod for Nespresso machines and the world’s first Ethiopian Forest Coffee pod.

Blue Goose Co-founder Lex Thornely said:

“From inception to creation, I wanted to blow customers away with our Eco Coffee Pod Advent Calendar, so to be recognised by the World Coffee Innovation Awards and Soil Association judges, who said our Calendar “won on so many levels”, is an absolute highlight in my journey as co-founder of Blue Goose Coffee.”

“As a project, it was all about creating something with real impact, not just a token gesture coffee advent calendar. So matching ethics, sustainability and taste was key, alongside reinforcing the incredible benefits of organic agriculture versus the extreme damage to biodiversity and emission levels that fossil fuel-based nitrogen fertiliser and chemical pesticides are creating. Nature-friendly business is vital for us all and we have proven it is absolutely possible to balance business with purpose, despite being a micro business competing with global conglomerates.”

Soil Association Certification Director Alex Cullen said:

“Organic production offers vital solutions for climate and nature, which is why we’re so excited to see the innovation and lengths that Blue Goose have gone to showcasing organic products at their very best.”

The Blue Goose Coffee Pod Advent Calendar is available for a limited time via their website HERE for £29.99, or in-store at Selfridges Oxford Street.
