Fighting those winter blues is never easy, especially with such damp and cold weather to contend with. But we say EMBRACE it and enjoy the respite from the heat we will be getting in our ever warming summer. Don your wellies and water proof trousers and get yourselves down to Eggesford Forest to blow away some cobwebs. The trees are spectacular, atmospheric and peaceful and the river runs deep at this time of year. Nothing beats a wild walk to brighten the day, even a wet January one.

There are several routes you can take including a short loop for those with less energy as well as longer trails through the thicker forest. A trail map in the free car park will help you decide.

We have hot teas and coffees, cakes and other snacks available at The Farm Shop in the Station Yard and also, you can then stock up on locally sourced, quality veg and meat to  cook up some healthy and wholesome meals at home.

If you don’t drive, don’t fret- we are next to Eggesford Train Station on the Tarka Line with a train every hour in both directions. There is a stunning walking route to the forests along the river from the station. We have a comfy sofa tucked away in a quiet area of the shop should it be pouring with rain while you await your train.
