Newcomers to the British Pie Awards, Baked to Taste, are proud to have won two awards in the Free From category at the British Pie Awards.

Runner up to the overall winner in the Free From category, Baked to Taste’s Cheese and Onion Pasty was a delight to eat for the judges.

The Champion “Pie of Pies” was awarded to a Gluten-Free Vegetarian Pie called ‘Mooless’ Pie made by Pieminister of Bristol.

Baked to Taste is a small bakery in Honiton, East Devon. They make pies, pasties, sausage rolls, quiche and cakes which are all gluten and wheat free. Acquired By Simon and Suzi Bryon Edmond of Chunk of Devon in October last year, who are on a mission to make gluten free taste as good as gluten full!

Owners of Baked to Taste, Simon and Suzi, said “We are just delighted to have won, especially as we wanted to make a gluten free pasty as tasty as our multi-award-winning Chunk steak pasty” (Winner of two British Pie Champion awards).

The competition was particularly tough this year with a record 976 entries.

The Awards were judged by 151 experts last week in the UK’s Capital of Pies, Melton Mowbray. There were 23 classes including Pork Pies, Steak & Ale, Game, Vegan, Gluten Free, Dessert, Vegetarian etc.
