Devon has unparalleled countryside and coastal views and what better way to soak them up than enjoying some al fresco drinking or dining at one of our fantastic hospitality venues.  Here’s our round up of some of the best outdoor dining locations in the county.

The Church House Inn, Stokenham

The Church House Inn in Stokenham has recently opened its doors to its new purpose-built outdoor bar and BBQ The Church ‘Ale’ House.

They are taking al fresco dining to a whole new level with a bespoke outdoor menu with regularly changing dishes such as Church House spiced chicken, loaded chilli dogs, prime steak burger and racks of ribs. The BBQ is open Wednesday-Sunday from 4pm-8pm and the outdoor bar is open from 3pm onwards.

With a play park on the green for the children and plenty of water bowls and dog biscuits for the four-legged friends, it’s the perfect location for all the family for that ideal summer evening!

Point Bar & Grill, Exmouth

Enjoy alfresco summer dining at The Point Bar & Grill, the award-winning restaurant and bar located right on the marina in beautiful Exmouth, Devon. Tuck into their Terrace Menu, served outside and in the bar area and their new wine list for summer with a changing Wine of the Week.

Look ahead and book for their delicious September Events. And right now if you sign up to the Point Bar & Grill Newsletter you can get a not-to-be-sniffed-at £5 voucher. Sign up HERE.

The Bucket & Spade, Shaldon

True to its name, The Bucket & Spade Cafe in Shaldon exudes a distinct holiday ambience as soon as you walk through the door. However, it’s the spectacular panoramic view overlooking the South Devon coastline which wows locals and holidaymakers from the sun-soaked terrace.

Relax and unwind with a delicious full English or light healthy breakfast, be tempted by the enticing new lunch or dinner menu which includes locally sourced fish specials each day, all with an exceptional view. Many gluten free and vegan options available.

Based at Coast View Holiday Park in Shaldon, The Bucket & Spade Cafe is open to on-site lodge owners and members of the public.  With three stunning Holiday Parks located in some of the most beautiful areas of Devon and Cornwall, South West Holiday Parks offer top-end holiday homes on some of the most exclusive Park developments in the South West. Seaview Holiday Park in Gorran Haven, Cornwall was recently awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.

Coldharbour Field Kitchen

A stunning new field kitchen with outstanding views has opened in Ottery St Mary. Coldharbour Field Kitchen is the culmination of months of hard work for Andrea Broadhurst and business partner Beth Ashfield. It replaces the original café they opened with their farm shop in 2016.

When recent guidelines only allowed outdoor dining, they opened a small-scale field kitchen outside. It went down a storm, and they had lots of positive comments about the stunning views. So, when life started settling back to normal and customers could eat inside, the pair realised that the success of the temporary field kitchen gave them something to build on – literally!

The menu offers a wide choice of meals from traditional and more quirky breakfasts to lunchtime delights such as smashed chickpeas, chicken Caesar salad and lots of options featuring Coldharbour Farm’s own meat, from pulled pork baps to ‘sheep’ dogs.

Everything is made using locally sourced ingredients. As well as produce fresh from the farm, they use free range eggs, milk, veg and other produce from local suppliers such as Creedy Carver, Hawkridge Cheese and Exmoor Game.

The Field Kitchen has its own bar stocked with plenty of locally produced drinks from cider and ales to vodka, rum and gin.

Dogs are welcome, and a special part of the menu is dedicated to four-legged friends, including doggy ice cream and a Coldharbour pork sausage.

Venus Cafes

If you’re loving the beach and this glorious weather visit the Venus Beach Cafes at their four stunning locations across South Devon at Blackpool Sands, Bigbury-on-Sea, East Portlemouth and Broadsands, Paignton.

Passionate and committed to supporting local food and drink suppliers in the south west, The Venus Company use only the highest-quality ingredients to prepare their dishes, all served in sustainable packaging.

With an array of homemade dishes and low-calorie and gluten free options, the Venus Cafe develops and make their recipes at their development centre based in Halwell, Totnes, all packaged in a sustainable way to help protect our coastlines.

Enjoy a taste of the sea with delicious fresh Seafood Specials from Devon Day Boats at Broadsands, while all four cafes offer a home-made summer specials range whatever your dietary requirements.
